Kwahu-Tafo is a special place. The buildings are small, the people are poor but the atmosphere is incredible. Infact, the town is so special to me, that I have been their twice. My name is Kat Kehrt and I am from the US. I took a year off between high school and University and in February of 2008 I set off the Ghana. I knew nothing about what I was getting myself into. Family's Tse's Volunteer Report
My husband, Roy and I spent three weeks in Ghana in March 2008 (two weeks volunteering in Kwahu-Tafo, and one week in Accra taking drumming/dancing classes). Without any hesitation, we would highly recommend volunteering with UVO, a non-profit volunteer program designed to function like a cultural exchange to enrich the lives of those living in the village of Kwahu-Tafo as well as all volunteers in the program. By interacting daily with locals, both children and adults, we felt we were able to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for edi Ghanaian culture, its roots and heritage (food, art, dance, music, history, athletics) as well as their daily life challenges.
Hi, my name is Rory, I am 27 and from England. I have volunteered at the
projects in Tafo twice, the first time in 2006 for five months and also earlier this year (2008)
for a month to see how the project has progressed. I have had some wonderful experiences in Tafo, making some excellent friends in the village as well as other volunteers.
